As an economics student, Tamara Taichman was destined for a career at the opposite end of the spectrum from her current role, until she met a fashion editor who suggested she work with her.
"It was a no-brainer," Tamara explains, "I loved fashion, I loved images, I loved typography...". She quickly made a name for herself as a stylist and editor for the most influential fashion magazines.
2006 was a new turning point in Tamara Taichman's life. During fashion week, she decided to wear a bag that she had designed herself to accompany her in all circumstances.
The Zelig bag - because that's what it is! - will soon become the brand's emblematic bag, recognisable by its famous paperclip closure. Practical, chic and discreet, it was quickly courted by Le Bon Marché in Paris, Isetan in Tokyo and Bergdorf Goodman in NYC. Today, it can be found on the arms of Naomi Watts, Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Diaz and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Its name is inspired by a character imagined by Woody Allen, who adapts to his environment and the people he meets. Just like Tamara's bag: "It's the bag for all circumstances, I live with it, I work with it, I go on holiday with it! With this bag, you can say that everything is possible.
Faced with the success of the Zelig bag, Tamara and her partner Nicolas decided to create the brand Tila March. "Tila" is the combination of their first names and "March", the month they met.
One year after the launch of the brand, a shoe collection was added to the bag collection with the same guiding principle: a timeless product, perfectly identifiable but without an apparent logo.
