The AMIRI Prize is back for 2023. Following the success of the program’s inaugural edition in 2021, the AMIRI Prize has returned this year to find the next generation of fashion talent.
The award and incubator program aims to encourage greater inclusivity in the industry by highlighting up-and-coming talent from fashion and fashion-adjacent fields. True to his own career, founder Mike Amiri aims to support talent from unconventional backgrounds.
“We had absolutely nothing. No industry connections, no co-sign, no gimmicks and no backer. We just believed in ourselves and knew that if we did good work we couldn’t be ignored. It’s a new world and the doors are wide open for you and your dreams. The old guard is no longer relevant. I’m proof of this. You could do it as well. All you need to do is… try,” Amiri said.
Applicants will be reviewed by a prestigious line-up of visionaries and entrepreneurs, including Amiri himself as well as Colm Dillane, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Law Roach, Lucia Liu, June Ambrose, Rocco Liu, Salehe Bembury, Samuel Ross, and Will Welch.
The winner of The AMIRI Prize for 2023 will receive $100,000 and a yearlong mentorship with Mike Amiri, opening up the brand’s own infrastructure and resources and offering encouragement and empowerment. For this second edition, the prize will also be open to international applicants.
The application process launched on June 6th via www.amiriprize.com and the winner will be announced in early October.
