Timex Brings Back The World Time 1972 Timepiece In All Its Glory

26/07/2023

Timex has added the eccentric yet retro World Time 1972 Reissue to its collections. The watch brand dug deep into its archives to bring this unique 1970s design to the modern day.

Initially conceptualized for avid travelers at the time, the timepiece’s highlighted feature is its rotating aluminum bezel with GMT markings for 23 major cities around the world. Upon a closer look, the cities are spelled in French — a characteristic that is carried over from the original watch which was tailored for the European market.

Composed of stainless steel, the barrel-shaped case measures 39mm in diameter. Aligning with the bezel’s aesthetic, the dial is presented in a minimalistic two-design, lightly accented with luminous yellow hour markers and a geometric handset. Beating at its core is a Quartz movement, which boasts a 50 meters water resistance and powers the watch for all its necessary time-keeping functions along with date display. A simple black leather strap with a stainless steel buckle completes the package without taking the dial’s spotlight away.

Currently available for the price of $179 USD, the World Time 1972 Reissue can be purchased at Timex’s official website.
