Ann Demeulemeester Appoints Stefano Gallici as New Creative Director

03/07/2023

Following Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s departure from the brand’s helm, Ann Demeulemeester has named Stefano Gallici its new creative director, according to WWD.

Born in 1996, Gallici entered the industry upon studying fashion design at the Università Iuav di Venezia in Venice. After graduating, he began working in Antwerp, where he became the assistant designer to Haider Ackermann.

In January 2019, he moved to the Antonioli Group, founded by Claudio Antonioli, which acquired Ann Demeulemeester the following year. Since then, Gallici has played a “key role in the development of the brand,” having previously served as the Belgian fashion house’s menswear designer.

“Stefano immediately demonstrated a strong creativity and a clear vision for Ann Demeulemeester,” said Antonioli, per the outlet. “He represents the DNA of the brand with an eye to the future.”

Gallici’s reign follows that of de Saint Sernin, who parted ways with the label after just one season. In his debut show, the former designer presented 36 looks paying tribute to the brand’s archival silhouettes, with signature, contemporary reinterpretations. Prior to de Saint Sernin’s stint, Ann Demeulemeester’s collections were designed by an in-house team, in the years following former creative director Sébastien Meunier’s departure in July 2020.

Gallici’s first collection for Ann Demeulemeester as creative director will be revealed on September 30 during Paris Fashion Week.
