Borre Akkersdijk‘s BYBORRE and Diemme share many values. Both are technologically advanced, both put the wearer first, and both have a design language geared toward the great outdoors. It makes perfect sense, then, that the duo has come together for the third consecutive season to present their Spring/Summer 2023 footwear collection.
Comprising the Maggiore, Onè Hiker and the new Duna Sandal, BYBORRE x Diemme crafts a collection of shoes that, like the collaborators, share one value. Here, it’s a textile, notably the recycled polyester-based knit, VALBY. The yarn is made using post-consumption plastic bottles collected in Italy, and it has been treated sans-chemically, ensuring a sustainable practice throughout.
The lightweight yet durable material finds itself woven into three-dimensional textile patterns that act as sturdy paneling alongside suede trims across all three silhouettes. Natural shades such as sage and lavender clash alongside black and fiery orange hues, and all are said to reminisce the 1990s in honor of Diemme’s 30th anniversary. To round off the shoes, all pairs come equipped with a trusty Vibram sole unit.
Speaking on the project, Akkersdijk said: “As a textile platform striving for better and more fitted-to-purpose textiles we are honored to have been partnering with a brand like Diemme pushing for functional products that last a lifetime. Use less, do more.”
