Femilet was founded in 1923 by Jens Krøjgaard. He was one of many enterprising men from central Jutland who founded a number of successful textile companies during that period. In 1936, Jens Krøjgaard opened his first store JK Tricotage in Bredgade in Herning. From there, he spent 32 years serving the city's fashion- and quality-conscious women.
