Following week-long runways in Paris and Milan, Denmark’s capital city is now set to follow suit, prepared to kick Fall/Winter 2023 antics off at the end of January. Co-ed label Filippa K is one step ahead of the curve, taking to Copenhagen to debut its latest offering of futuristic garments submerged in ’70s skiwear motifs.
For Fall/Winter 2023, Creative director Liisa Kessler looks to celestial viewpoints while pulling inspiration from Werner Herzog’s 1974 documentary The Great Ecstasy of Woodcarver Steiner, which records the record-breaking success of legendary athlete Walter Steiner.
The new collection takes design cues from classic cold weather outerwear injected with athletic motocross touches redefined by Kessler through an ultra-modern lens. Steiner’s emblematic ski suit is envisioned with a whimsical skin-tight design, while pastel hues dominate eloquent fur coats, textured half-zips, and après-ski-ready attire.
Elsewhere, velour sets ideal for nighttime adventures stand alongside sherpa denim coats, aviator jackets, and glossy patent leather ensembles. Finally, the elevated wardrobe is completed with modernized tailored staples and a single sheer lingerie look.
