Joining AiE, Engineered Garments, NEEDLES, and South2 West8, NEPENTHES has now launched its latest label HANA, TAIYO, AME. Japanese for “FLOWER, SUN, RAIN,” the emerging line is led by NEPENTHES founder Keizo Shimizu and based in Biei, Hokkaido.
Inspired by the natural landscape of Biei, the HANA, TAIYO, AME (FLOWER, SUN, RAIN) explores carefully perfected items devoid of season or genre. Leading the offering of “ultimate” wares is the “Ultimate Flannel Shirt” drawn from the flannel shirts of the 1950s and 1960s. Designed by Shimizu, the shirt is printed using a traditional hand-printing technique and is marked by an open collar, gusseted round bottom hem, and custom three-hold shell buttons.
Additional detailing comes in the form of folded-down seams that provide durability and a peace symbol applied to the chest with a striking patch design. The “Ultimate Flannel Shirt” is offered in seven different unique patterns inspired by retro styling of the ’50s.
Priced at ¥42,900 JPY (approximately $312 USD), the inaugural release from HANA, TAIYO, AME (FLOWER, SUN, RAIN) is available now on the brand’s official website.
