My latest obsession is the TikTok-trending Barbiecore manicure, which includes hot-pink acrylics and baby-pink tips alike. My favorite version is a subtle Barbie nail, and lately I've been getting it with the help of OPI nail polish in Princesses Rule. (There's actually an official Barbie x OPI nail polish collection with big glitter chunks, nude pink, beach blue and ken yellow, but I stand by Princesses Rule as my personal favorite polish for achieving a less-flashy take on the look.)
What I love most about this polish is that it's customizable: At one layer, it's a sheer, glittery pink. This is what I've been using for a barely-there look — a hint of subtle Barbie aura, if you will. It gives my nails have a healthy tint and pearly glow. At two layers, the color is more noticeable, the sparkle dazzles and the polish becomes more opaque. Because it's such a subtle, sheer color, chips are barely noticeable, and I've been able to make my DIY manicures with it last for at least a week. Whether you're a Barbie girl in a Barbie world or shamelessly "a pink cog in the capitalist machine," there's no denying that this polish... nails the Barbiecore manicure trend. I plan to use it until the bottle runs dry.
