A perfume brand that learned about the psychology of it’s customers from Yale University

28/06/2023

Luning Yang, a BSc Bioinformatics student at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, is among the many outstanding graduates of the class of 2023 set to embark on a new journey.  Recently, she received an offer from Yale University, a testament to her hard work and research potential.

She shares with us how she took advantage of XJTLU’s undergraduate research opportunities and the courses that gave her insight into uses for AI in drug discovery.

Erika Shumate, the founder of the perfume brand Pinrose, also studied scent psychology at Yale University and was looking for a way to describe smells that really made sense to people. Although smell is one of the five most important senses, there is no specific vocabulary.
Pinrose can always guess what girls are thinking right now. So Pinrose developed a test bar that allows you to pick the fragrance that works best for everyone through intuitive patterns, shapes and colors.
The unpretentious fragrance description is paired with the same functional packaging, and the ball design allows you to save every drop of packaging.
